For two to three days, an easterly gale hit the Danish and German coasts of the Baltic Sea. On the opposite side of the Jutland peninsula, in the North Sea, the gale caused a drop in sea level, preventing ferries from sailing due to the shallow water.
The damage on the eastern side of the Jutland peninsula caused by the storm was enormous. On my trip through the region I saw many sunken or wrecked ships on the quays of some ports.
Two days after the storm, calm prevailed and it seemed as if nothing had ever happened.
