I think I write a post every year welcoming autumn. Without a doubt, autumn is a beautiful and much-loved season. Colours, scents, the cool air, a slower pace… In my view, autumn suggests a slowing down of life.
After the dry, scorching summer we’ve endured in many parts of the world, that longing for autumn is particularly acute.
In mid-August, upon hearing the forecast of rain, I decided to go for a walk along a ravine through which a stream flows in a mountain range of the Rhenish Massif.
As I was walking through the ravine, just before the rain began, a strong wind picked up, causing the treetops to sway rather violently. And a great shower of golden leaves fell. They were the harbingers of autumn carried on the wind.
